Installation

Use a Linux x86-64 machine with a graphical session. QEMU starts the guest; Antinomie opens a native desktop window. KVM hardware acceleration is strongly recommended. Software emulation with TCG is available when KVM cannot be used.

Requirement Used for
qemu-system-x86_64 Running virtual machines
qemu-img Creating and managing VM disk overlays
QEMU GTK display backend Opening the guest display
curl Downloading bases and optional tools
virt-customize Provisioning Debian guest accounts
bwrap (bubblewrap) Running static analysis in a sandbox
Access to /dev/kvm Hardware-accelerated guests

On Debian or Ubuntu, install the runtime packages:

Terminal window
sudo apt update
sudo apt install qemu-system-x86 qemu-utils qemu-system-gui \
curl libguestfs-tools bubblewrap

This installs host packages, not Antinomie itself. Building kernels or guest images has additional requirements; downloading a published base avoids that build.

Application distribution is managed separately from this public website. If you already have the 0.3.0 Linux x86-64 archive and its SHA256SUMS file, place them in the same directory and verify the archive:

Terminal window
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS
tar -xzf antinomie-0.3.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz

Open the extracted release directory, then run:

Terminal window
./install.sh
antinomie

The installer creates a per-user command and desktop menu entry. You can also run ./antinomie-monitor directly from the extracted directory. Rust is not required to run the release binary.

Keep the archive’s README and license notices with the release. Verify the version with antinomie –version or Help → About Antinomie.

Antinomie checks runtime requirements at startup. If something is missing, Tools → App dependencies names the affected actions and package commands. After installing a package, select Check again.

For a terminal report:

Terminal window
antinomie --check-dependencies

A missing requirement blocks the actions that need it. Saved recordings remain available. Optional analysis tools have their own dialog.

The default application data directory is ~/antinomie. It contains installed bases, persistent VM disks and recordings. To choose another directory, launch with –data-dir /path/to/your/data.

From the extracted release directory, ./install.sh –uninstall removes the installed command and menu entry. Application data remains.

Next: create a VM and make your first recording.
